This authentic Data Plate was used on a Pratt & Whitney R-1340 engine. The R-1340 Wasp is the first in the famed Wasp series. The R-1340 was a single-row, nine-cylinder air-cooled engine that was first run in 1925. It was rated at 410-600 horsepower, depending on the specific version and application. This engine proved to be incredibly reliable and was widely used in many types of aircraft. This engine was used in a wide range of aircraft including the North American AT-6 Texan, Boeing P-26 Peashooter, Ford Trimotor, Grumman F3F biplane fighter, and many others. Even after its production ended, the R-1340 continued to be a popular choice for vintage, historic, and warbird aircraft due to its proven reliability and widespread availability of parts. Data Plate measures 3.5”w x 2.25”h.
