2-Stroke Sport Aircraft
2-Stroke Sport Aircraft
The classic Mini-Max line, from the original 1100R in 1984 to the 1500R, 1600R, 1650R EROS, and 1700R Hi-Max Sport of today. Lightweight power, simple systems, real craftsmanship, and maximum fun.
From the original 1100R to today.
The Mini-Max 2-stroke Sport family carries the spirit that started in 1984: simple wood-and-fabric aircraft, honest flying manners, manageable build projects, and maximum fun per dollar.
The line that started the Mini-Max story.
The 2-stroke Sport aircraft family is the living link between the first 1100R Mini-Max and the aircraft Mini-Max USA continues to support today. It is the classic Mini-Max formula: wood structure, fabric covering, single-seat simplicity, light handling, and an airplane that feels personal because you helped bring it to life.
These are not oversized, overcomplicated aircraft. They are honest, efficient, hands-on flying machines built around the idea that aviation should still be possible for ordinary people with a shop, a set of plans, and the patience to build carefully.
The 1100R gave the Mini-Max name its identity. The 1500R stretched that idea into the Speedster style. The 1600R added Coupe comfort. The 1650R EROS gave builders a more refined enclosed-cockpit experience. The 1700R Hi-Max Sport carried the same spirit into a high-wing layout.
Legacy timeline
More than four decades of simple, affordable fun.
The 2-stroke Sport family is built around the aircraft that made Mini-Max known: small, efficient, single-seat aircraft that reward careful building and real stick-and-rudder flying.
The 1100R Mini-Max begins the story
The 1100R is the original Mini-Max, the aircraft that helped define the idea of minimum cost and maximum fun. It gave builders a practical path into personal aviation with a compact wood-and-fabric airframe and simple 2-stroke power.
The 1500R Speedster Sport brings more personality
The Speedster branch kept the Mini-Max spirit while giving builders a sportier open-cockpit feel. It is the model family for pilots who want simple flying with a little more style and presence.
The 1600R Coupe Sport adds enclosed-cockpit comfort
The Coupe line gave Mini-Max builders more comfort and protection while keeping the approachable, lightweight nature that made the aircraft popular.
The 1650R EROS becomes the refined 2-stroke Coupe
The 1650R EROS is the premium 2-stroke Sport aircraft in this family. It is for builders who want the classic Mini-Max experience with a more complete enclosed-cockpit feel and stronger engine options.
Mini-Max USA carries the line forward
Mini-Max USA supports the 2-stroke Sport aircraft family with kits, plans, parts, builder support, used aircraft help, and a renewed focus on keeping these aircraft flying for the next generation.

Featured powerplants
Classic and modern 2-stroke choices.
The 2-stroke Sport family includes aircraft that pair well with simple, lightweight two-stroke power. Always confirm the correct engine, mount, prop, weight, balance, cooling, and installation details with Mini-Max USA before ordering.
Simonini Mini 3
A modern compact two-stroke option for builders who want lightweight power, electric start appeal, and a current-production engine path.
Polini 303
A newer high-output lightweight two-stroke option that fits the modern ultralight and light aircraft conversation when weight and simplicity matter.

Kawasaki 440
A legacy 440 cc two-stroke that many early ultralight builders will recognize. Best treated as a historical or legacy option that requires careful evaluation.
Rotax 503
A well-known 50 hp class two-stroke aircraft engine with a long history in light aircraft. It is no longer in production, but many used installations and support paths still exist.
Simonini Victor 1
A stronger two-stroke option for the EROS path, giving builders another way to think about performance in the refined 2-stroke Coupe family.
