2-Stroke Sport Aircraft

The classic Mini-Max line, from the original 1100R in 1984 to the 1500R, 1600R, 1650R EROS, and 1700R Hi-Max Sport of today. Lightweight power, simple systems, real craftsmanship, and maximum fun.

From the original 1100R to today.

The Mini-Max 2-stroke Sport family carries the spirit that started in 1984: simple wood-and-fabric aircraft, honest flying manners, manageable build projects, and maximum fun per dollar.

Lightweight Simple airframes with classic 2-stroke power.
Buildable Designed for real builders in real shops.
Affordable Minimum cost. Maximum fun.
Legacy A direct line back to the first Mini-Max.

The line that started the Mini-Max story.

The 2-stroke Sport aircraft family is the living link between the first 1100R Mini-Max and the aircraft Mini-Max USA continues to support today. It is the classic Mini-Max formula: wood structure, fabric covering, single-seat simplicity, light handling, and an airplane that feels personal because you helped bring it to life.

These are not oversized, overcomplicated aircraft. They are honest, efficient, hands-on flying machines built around the idea that aviation should still be possible for ordinary people with a shop, a set of plans, and the patience to build carefully.

The 1100R gave the Mini-Max name its identity. The 1500R stretched that idea into the Speedster style. The 1600R added Coupe comfort. The 1650R EROS gave builders a more refined enclosed-cockpit experience. The 1700R Hi-Max Sport carried the same spirit into a high-wing layout.

Legacy timeline

More than four decades of simple, affordable fun.

The 2-stroke Sport family is built around the aircraft that made Mini-Max known: small, efficient, single-seat aircraft that reward careful building and real stick-and-rudder flying.

1984

The 1100R Mini-Max begins the story

The 1100R is the original Mini-Max, the aircraft that helped define the idea of minimum cost and maximum fun. It gave builders a practical path into personal aviation with a compact wood-and-fabric airframe and simple 2-stroke power.

1987

The 1500R Speedster Sport brings more personality

The Speedster branch kept the Mini-Max spirit while giving builders a sportier open-cockpit feel. It is the model family for pilots who want simple flying with a little more style and presence.

1989

The 1600R Coupe Sport adds enclosed-cockpit comfort

The Coupe line gave Mini-Max builders more comfort and protection while keeping the approachable, lightweight nature that made the aircraft popular.

EROS

The 1650R EROS becomes the refined 2-stroke Coupe

The 1650R EROS is the premium 2-stroke Sport aircraft in this family. It is for builders who want the classic Mini-Max experience with a more complete enclosed-cockpit feel and stronger engine options.

Today

Mini-Max USA carries the line forward

Engine fit note: Engine recommendations and featured powerplants depend on the exact model, mount, propeller, reduction drive, cooling system, exhaust, fuel system, empty weight, center of gravity, and regulatory category. Mini-Max USA can help you review the right powerplant path before you order parts or commit to a project.

Classic Mini-Max flying is still alive.

Start with plans, choose the model that fits your flying style, and build into a family of aircraft with more than four decades of history behind it.

Which one is right for you?

Pick the aircraft by the way you want to fly.

Choose the 1100R for the original Mini-Max feel, the 1500R for open-cockpit Speedster style, the 1600R for enclosed Coupe comfort, the 1650R EROS for the premium 2-stroke Coupe experience, or the 1700R for high-wing Hi-Max utility.

Important: Performance, engine compatibility, build time, empty weight, useful load, and regulatory category vary by model, equipment, engine installation, builder choices, and final inspection. Always confirm the current Mini-Max USA kit details, plans revision, and engine installation guidance before ordering or modifying an aircraft.
