The 1850V SuperMax is typically completed and licensed as an Experimental Amateur-Built (E-AB) aircraft. Under the FAA 'major portion' (51%) rule, a homebuilt aircraft you build for education and recreation can receive a special airworthiness certificate in the Experimental Amateur-Built category.
