What's Included

Official Mini-Max USA documentation for the 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight so you can study the aircraft, understand the build, compare your build path, and budget before ordering Mini-Kits or a full kit.

  • Aircraft study and build reference material.
  • Guidance to compare Mini-Max models and plan a realistic budget.
  • A clear path toward Mini-Kits, a full kit, or builder-assist support.

Plans and manuals are licensed for permitted personal use and may not be copied, shared, uploaded, resold, or distributed without written permission from Mini-Max USA.

Build Time & Skill Level

Estimated build time depends on the kit level you choose and your experience. Prefab wing ribs and prefab metal parts meaningfully reduce build time.

  • Base kit build time: 350-400 Hours
  • Prefab quick-build kit build time: 250-300 Hours

This is an amateur-built, wood-and-fabric aircraft designed for hands-on homebuilders. Typical skills:

  • Basic woodworking, measuring, and drilling
  • Riveting and assembly of metal parts
  • Epoxy work and fabric covering
  • No welding or advanced machining required for a standard build

Mini-Max USA builder-assist support is available to help you finish.

Part 103 & Experimental

The 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight is designed as a single-seat Part 103 ultralight candidate. Under FAA Part 103, a legal ultralight needs no pilot license, no medical, and no aircraft registration when the finished aircraft meets the Part 103 limits.

  • Single-seat, for recreation or sport use only.
  • Empty weight at or below 254 lb (with allowances for floats or a ballistic parachute).
  • Top speed 55 knots (about 63 mph) or less; power-off stall speed 24 knots or less.
  • Fuel capacity of 5 U.S. gallons or less.

Part 103 also makes the 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight an affordable way to build flight time — low purchase and operating cost for recreational flying and hour building.

Final Part 103 eligibility depends on your finished configuration, weight, and equipment. You are responsible for verifying actual empty weight, speed, stall speed, and fuel capacity before flight. No listing statement is an FAA determination of eligibility.
