1103R Mini-Max Ultralight Mini-Kits
Build your 1103R Mini-Max Ultralight in stages. Choose one airframe section and the fabrication option available for that section. Each selection is a separate Mini-Kit purchase, not a complete aircraft kit.
1103R Mini-Max Ultralight Mini-Kits
Build the 1103R Mini-Max Ultralight in modular stages. Mini-Kits let you build one section at a time, spread out cost, and move from plans to real airframe progress without buying the full kit all at once.
Wing Rib Kit Options
The Wing Rib Kit is different from the Wing Assembly Kit. The Wing Rib Kit covers the ribs. The Wing Assembly Kit covers spars, fittings, hardware, and wing structure components used to assemble the wing after the ribs are built.
- Raw Materials: materials and templates to build the wing ribs yourself.
- Laser Cut Gussets: a time-saving rib kit option with laser cut gussets.
- Prebuilt Wing Ribs: prebuilt wing ribs for builders who want to save time on one of the most repetitive parts of the wing build.
Mini-Kit Pricing
Pricing is based on ideal retail value with no waste, then discounted 10% for the Mini-Kit buying path.
Important
Mini-Kits are aircraft components and materials, not completed aircraft. Engine, propeller, covering, paint, instruments, avionics, inspection, registration, certification, training, and assembly labor are separate unless specifically listed.
Choose your section and version
The Wing Rib Kit and Wing Assembly Kit are separate purchases. Select the matching section and version before adding it to your cart.

Weights
Empty weight is a reference figure. Under 14 CFR 103.1(e)(1) a powered ultralight vehicle weighs less than 254 pounds empty weight, excluding floats and safety devices which are intended for deployment in a potentially catastrophic situation; the actual empty weight of the finished aircraft determines whether it meets that limit.
- Empty Weight: 243 LBS
- Useful Load: 257 LBS
- Max Gross Weight: 500 LBS
- Wing Loading @ Gross: 4.44 LBS/SQ. FT.
Powerplant

Performance
Stall speed and other performance figures are reference figures. Under 14 CFR 103.1(e)(4) a powered ultralight vehicle has a power-off stall speed which does not exceed 24 knots calibrated airspeed (about 27.6 mph); the actual stall speed of the finished aircraft determines whether it meets that limit.
- Top Speed: 60 MPH
- Cruise Speed: 55 MPH
- Stall Speed (Clean): 26 MPH
- Stall Speed (Flaps): 22 MPH
- Climb Rate: 650 FPM

What's Included+
Mini-Kits let you stage your 1103R Mini-Max Ultralight build and spread out cost — order the airframe sections you need and move from plans to real airframe progress without buying a full kit all at once.
- Order individual airframe sections (for example wing rib kits and wing assembly kits).
- Choose the material level where offered — raw materials, laser-cut gussets, or prebuilt wing ribs.
- Combine sections over time to complete the airframe at your own pace.
Not included unless listed
Engine, propeller, instruments, avionics, battery, wiring, covering, paint, upholstery, shipping, assembly labor, registration, certification, inspection, and training are not included unless the product page or invoice specifically says so.
Build Time & Skill Level+
Estimated build time depends on the kit level you choose and your experience. Prefab wing ribs and prefab metal parts meaningfully reduce build time.
- Base kit build time: 250-300 Hours
- Prefab quick-build kit build time: 175-225 Hours
This is an amateur-built, wood-and-fabric aircraft designed for hands-on homebuilders. Typical skills:
- Basic woodworking, measuring, and drilling
- Riveting and assembly of metal parts
- Epoxy work and fabric covering
- No welding or advanced machining required for a standard build
Mini-Max USA builder-assist support is available to help you finish.
Part 103 & Experimental+
The 1103R Mini-Max Ultralight is designed as a single-seat Part 103 ultralight candidate. Under FAA Part 103, a legal ultralight needs no pilot license, no medical, and no aircraft registration when the finished aircraft meets the Part 103 limits.
- Single-seat, for recreation or sport use only.
- Empty weight of less than 254 pounds, excluding floats and safety devices which are intended for deployment in a potentially catastrophic situation (14 CFR 103.1(e)(1)).
- Not capable of more than 55 knots calibrated airspeed at full power in level flight (about 63 mph), and a power-off stall speed which does not exceed 24 knots calibrated airspeed (14 CFR 103.1(e)(3) and (4)).
- Fuel capacity not exceeding 5 U.S. gallons (14 CFR 103.1(e)(2)).
If your finished aircraft meets Part 103, that can make the 1103R Mini-Max Ultralight an affordable way to build flight time — low purchase and operating cost for recreational flying and hour building.
Final Part 103 eligibility depends on your finished configuration, weight, and equipment. You are responsible for verifying actual empty weight, speed, stall speed, and fuel capacity before flight. No listing statement is an FAA determination of eligibility.
Reference figures, not a determination. Published empty weights, stall speeds and other figures for this model are reference figures. Part 103 status depends on the finished aircraft: its actual empty weight, fuel capacity, top speed and stall speed. Mini-Max USA does not certify, and cannot guarantee, that any completed aircraft qualifies as an ultralight vehicle.
