1030R MAX-103 Ultralight Mini-Kits
Build your 1030R MAX-103 Ultralight one section at a time. These Mini-Kits are for builders who want to spread out cost, order the aircraft sections they need, and move from plans to real airframe progress without buying a full kit all at once.
Wing Rib Kit Options
The Wing Rib Kit is available as Raw Materials, Laser Cut Gussets, or Prebuilt Wing Ribs. Raw Materials are for builders who want to build the ribs themselves. Prebuilt Wing Ribs are for builders who want to save time on one of the most repetitive and detail-sensitive parts of the wing build.
Wing Rib Kit vs Wing Assembly Kit
The Wing Rib Kit covers the ribs. The Wing Assembly Kit covers the spars, fittings, hardware, and wing structure components used to assemble the wing after the ribs are built.

What's Included+
Mini-Kits let you stage your 1030R MAX-103 Ultralight build and spread out cost — order the airframe sections you need and move from plans to real airframe progress without buying a full kit all at once.
- Order individual airframe sections (for example wing rib kits and wing assembly kits).
- Choose the material level where offered — raw materials, laser-cut gussets, or prebuilt wing ribs.
- Combine sections over time to complete the airframe at your own pace.
Not included unless listed
Engine, propeller, instruments, avionics, battery, wiring, covering, paint, upholstery, shipping, assembly labor, registration, certification, inspection, and training are not included unless the product page or invoice specifically says so.
Build Time & Skill Level+
Estimated build time depends on the kit level you choose and your experience. Prefab wing ribs and prefab metal parts meaningfully reduce build time.
- Base kit build time: 300-350 Hours
- Prefab quick-build kit build time: 200-250 Hours
This is an amateur-built, wood-and-fabric aircraft designed for hands-on homebuilders. Typical skills:
- Basic woodworking, measuring, and drilling
- Riveting and assembly of metal parts
- Epoxy work and fabric covering
- No welding or advanced machining required for a standard build
Mini-Max USA builder-assist support is available to help you finish.
Part 103 & Experimental+
The 1030R MAX-103 Ultralight is designed as a single-seat Part 103 ultralight candidate. Under FAA Part 103, a legal ultralight needs no pilot license, no medical, and no aircraft registration when the finished aircraft meets the Part 103 limits.
- Single-seat, for recreation or sport use only.
- Empty weight at or below 254 lb (with allowances for floats or a ballistic parachute).
- Top speed 55 knots (about 63 mph) or less; power-off stall speed 24 knots or less.
- Fuel capacity of 5 U.S. gallons or less.
Part 103 also makes the 1030R MAX-103 Ultralight an affordable way to build flight time — low purchase and operating cost for recreational flying and hour building.
Final Part 103 eligibility depends on your finished configuration, weight, and equipment. You are responsible for verifying actual empty weight, speed, stall speed, and fuel capacity before flight. No listing statement is an FAA determination of eligibility.
