The credit isn't applied at online checkout. Keep your order number and request the credit before you pay for the kit.

How the plans credit works

Start your 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight project with model-specific aircraft plans. Review the design, prepare your workspace and budget, then choose whether to buy Mini-Kits in stages or a full airframe kit.

Mini-Max USA plans for the 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight. A high-wing ultralight-focused path for builders who want visibility and simplicity.

These materials help you study the aircraft, understand the build, compare your build path, plan your budget, and decide whether to order sub-kits, a full kit, or builder-assist support.

Best for:

  • First-time builders
  • Careful planners
  • Budget-conscious dreamers
  • Schools and shop programs
  • Builders comparing Mini-Max models

Important: Plans, manuals, drawings, and proprietary materials are licensed for permitted personal use and may not be copied, shared, uploaded, resold, or distributed without written permission from Mini-Max USA.

Your next step after plans

Plans are documentation, not an aircraft kit or a materials package. Choose the exact model you intend to build; Mini-Kit sections and full kits are purchased separately.

Weights

Empty weight is a reference figure. Under 14 CFR 103.1(e)(1) a powered ultralight vehicle weighs less than 254 pounds empty weight, excluding floats and safety devices which are intended for deployment in a potentially catastrophic situation; the actual empty weight of the finished aircraft determines whether it meets that limit.

  • Empty Weight: 253 LBS
  • Useful Load: 247 LBS
  • Max Gross Weight: 500 LBS
  • Wing Loading @ Gross: 4.44 LBS/SQ. FT.

Powerplant

Performance

Stall speed and other performance figures are reference figures. Under 14 CFR 103.1(e)(4) a powered ultralight vehicle has a power-off stall speed which does not exceed 24 knots calibrated airspeed (about 27.6 mph); the actual stall speed of the finished aircraft determines whether it meets that limit.

  • Top Speed: 60 MPH
  • Cruise Speed: 55 MPH
  • Stall Speed (Clean): 29 MPH
  • Stall Speed (Flaps): 22 MPH
  • Climb Rate: 650 FPM

What's Included

Official Mini-Max USA documentation for the 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight so you can study the aircraft, understand the build, compare your build path, and budget before ordering Mini-Kits or a full kit.

  • Aircraft study and build reference material.
  • Guidance to compare Mini-Max models and plan a realistic budget.
  • A clear path toward Mini-Kits, a full kit, or builder-assist support.

Plans and manuals are licensed for permitted personal use and may not be copied, shared, uploaded, resold, or distributed without written permission from Mini-Max USA.

Build Time & Skill Level

Estimated build time depends on the kit level you choose and your experience. Prefab wing ribs and prefab metal parts meaningfully reduce build time.

  • Base kit build time: 350-400 Hours
  • Prefab quick-build kit build time: 250-300 Hours

This is an amateur-built, wood-and-fabric aircraft designed for hands-on homebuilders. Typical skills:

  • Basic woodworking, measuring, and drilling
  • Riveting and assembly of metal parts
  • Epoxy work and fabric covering
  • No welding or advanced machining required for a standard build

Mini-Max USA builder-assist support is available to help you finish.

Part 103 & Experimental

The 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight is designed as a single-seat Part 103 ultralight candidate. Under FAA Part 103, a legal ultralight needs no pilot license, no medical, and no aircraft registration when the finished aircraft meets the Part 103 limits.

  • Single-seat, for recreation or sport use only.
  • Empty weight of less than 254 pounds, excluding floats and safety devices which are intended for deployment in a potentially catastrophic situation (14 CFR 103.1(e)(1)).
  • Not capable of more than 55 knots calibrated airspeed at full power in level flight (about 63 mph), and a power-off stall speed which does not exceed 24 knots calibrated airspeed (14 CFR 103.1(e)(3) and (4)).
  • Fuel capacity not exceeding 5 U.S. gallons (14 CFR 103.1(e)(2)).

If your finished aircraft meets Part 103, that can make the 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight an affordable way to build flight time — low purchase and operating cost for recreational flying and hour building.

Final Part 103 eligibility depends on your finished configuration, weight, and equipment. You are responsible for verifying actual empty weight, speed, stall speed, and fuel capacity before flight. No listing statement is an FAA determination of eligibility.

Reference figures, not a determination. Published empty weights, stall speeds and other figures for this model are reference figures. Part 103 status depends on the finished aircraft: its actual empty weight, fuel capacity, top speed and stall speed. Mini-Max USA does not certify, and cannot guarantee, that any completed aircraft qualifies as an ultralight vehicle.
