Polini Thor 202 – High-Output, Lightweight 2-Stroke Engine
The Polini Thor 202 is a compact, high-performance paramotor engine delivering 33 horsepower and weighing just 37 lbs (16.8 kg). Designed for balance, stability, and adaptability, the Thor 202 is now available with two carburetor options: the Dell’Orto VHST 28mm and the Tryton.
With an updated muffler geometry for improved ignition timing, optimized fuel performance, and smoother thermal control, the Thor 202 is built for consistent power delivery even under changing altitudes or weather conditions.
🔧 Engine Specifications
Displacement: 205 cc
Bore x Stroke: 2.60 x 2.36 in (66 x 60 mm)
Weight: 37 lbs (including radiator)
Horsepower: 33 HP @ 8000 RPM
Static Thrust: Over 198 lbs (90 kg) with a 51-inch (130 cm) propeller
Fuel Consumption:
Dell’Orto: ~0.63 gal/hr (2.4 L/hr) @ 5000 RPM
Tryton: ~0.66 gal/hr (2.5 L/hr) @ 5000 RPM
Both deliver ~66 lbs of static thrust at level flight
⚙️ Muffler & Exhaust System
Polini’s new 2-stroke muffler system uses a compact expansion chamber to deliver stable, progressive power throughout the RPM range. The system is mounted with a spherical coupling that allows full movement, reduces vibration, and prolongs muffler life. The revised geometry also improves scavenging and thermal performance.
🥇 Carburetor Options
Tryton Carburetor
More stable performance in changing altitude and humidity
Uniform fuel flow = smoother combustion and throttle response
Built-in sealing prevents fuel leaks when the engine is tilted
Dell’Orto VHST 28mm Carburetor
Refined fuel atomization for greater throttle control
Lower fuel consumption through efficient Venturi effect
Can be paired with Polini’s remote choke control for harness operation
Ideal for precision pilots and long-distance cruising
🌬️ Airbox & Intake System
Advanced airflow geometry reduces turbulence using an S-shaped internal duct
30 PPI open-cell foam filter for clean airflow
Compact and 1.77 inches (45 mm) closer to the engine for reduced drag
Easy-access filter cage with tool-less service design
❄️ Cooling System
16-core compact radiator (11.8 × 6.7 in / 300 × 170 mm)
Eliminates need for expansion tank to save weight
1.4 bar (20 psi) pressure cap to regulate coolant volume
Blue silicone hoses for improved durability and visibility
💨 Reed Valve System
6 carbon-fiber petals with calibrated elasticity
Direct crankcase intake for optimized responsiveness
Designed for consistent performance at all RPM levels
🧱 Crankcase & Build Quality
Die-cast aluminum with high silicon content
Precision CNC machining for stable long-term tolerances
Reinforced zones in high-stress areas
Expected TBO (Time Between Overhaul): 300 hours
🔁 Crankshaft & Clutch System
Top-grade steel and thermal treatment
Perfect centering to eliminate unbalanced vibration
Housed centrifugal clutch allows the prop to idle at low RPM
Oil bath gear reduction with helical teeth (reverses prop rotation and reduces torque kick)
Built-in countershaft minimizes vibration for smooth flight
⚡ Ignition & Starter
Inductive electronic ignition – lighter and more compact than Thor 200 HF
Manual Flash Starter with reinforced internals
Ergonomic pull-handle for easier grip
Compact ignition system allows engine to sit 0.63 in (16 mm) closer to frame
🔩 Universal Mounting
All Thor engines, including the 202, share identical mounting points. This simplifies installation, frame compatibility, and future upgrades. The Thor 202 ships fully assembled with all necessary installation hardware.
